At the beginning of His earthly ministry, Jesus quoted Deutornomy 8:3 when He faced Satan’s snares in the wilderness. By doing so He made the knowledge of the Word a powerful weapon against the attack of the adversary. Because the parallel is used of Israel’s receiving the daily supply of manna, we know that the believer is to seek and feed upon a regular, daily portion of God’s Word. Psalm 119:165 adds that the Word of God has provided for us a solid base that will keep us firm and secure no matter what circumstance we face.
Let no one suppose spiritual survival is possible for long without nourishment from the Word of God. 1 Peter 2:2 declares that God’s Word is as essential to the believer as milk to a newborn child. It is not an option!
As you begin a new year, commit to daily spending time in the Word! It is a discoverable, definitive, discerning resource for meeting every challenge. Whatever you face this year, God’s promises are there, for you.
