God chose the descendants of Abraham, the Israelites, to know Him. But the Creator and Sustainer of all mankind is not a nationalistic God. His choice to bless Israel was also intended for the blessing of all nations, that they too might know Him. Thus, in the dedication of the temple in Jerusalem, King Solomon asked God to listen to the prayers not only of His own people, but to the prayers of the “foreigner, who is not of Your people Israel.”
We worship and pray to a universal God. His eyes and ears are open to all who call upon Him in truth. He will hear and answer for He wants all peoples of the earth to know His name and fear Him. God has a very big heart. He has the whole world in it.
O Father, make us people with spacious hearts. Make the place where we assemble with Your people a house of prayer for all nations.
