Sending…proclaiming…hearing…believing…calling. Salvation requires these steps. The first is the most important. Without it the others will not happen. No wonder Paul exclaims, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace!” (Rom. 10:15). If all upon whom the Spirit comes are Christ’s witnesses (Acts 1:8), then all believers are “sent” to bring the good news. First to those within their immediate sphere of influence. For some it may one day mean being “sent” further like the “missionary bands” in the book of Acts (Acts 11:19–21; 13:1–3).
If the Spirit of Christ is in us and He came to seek and to save the lost, how can we do less? May the love of Christ compel us to go and share the good news, for faith comes by hearing. How else can they hear and believe? How else would we have heard and believed?
