We hear in this verse a cry of complete satisfaction from the psalmist. He has come to the place with God when his heart can say, “Possessing Thee I desire nothing else.”
The verses surrounding verse 25 remind us of some facets of this satisfaction. Verse 23 reminds us that God’s continual presence with us is a cure for loneliness. In the following verse, there is the provision for guidance, for help when we make decisions. Not many people love to make decisions. What a comfort to know He guides us with His counsel.
In verse 26, His strength is promised for all those times when we realize we cannot go on without Him. Our tomorrows are in His care. He is our portion forever.
Verse 25 sums it all up. It is not what God gives but who He is that satisfies. God is so overwhelmingly important in our lives that all else is of little significance. Let us draw near to God today and get to know Him. Then we can say with the psalmist, “Possessing Thee I desire nothing else.”
