Our actions will be matched with our motives, and the counsel of the heart will be the measuring device for every action. It is not good enough to do the right thing, for we are accountable for our thoughts and attitudes, as well.
I used to fear that God would know my true motives, as if I could hide them in the first place. I simply did not understand His great love for me. Everyday the Holy Spirit is at work drawing me to a closer walk with the Lord. The “still, small voice” (1 Kings 19:12) that speaks to all of us is leading us to a purity of heart and motive.
As the Holy Spirit uncovers attitudes and motives we need to change, simply respond in faith, repent and move on! It is His grace that has brought us this far, and it is His greatest joy to complete the good work He has begun in us until the day He returns (Phil. 1:6).
