Habakkuk had a problem and complained to the Lord, “Why are you not judging the violence and injustice in Israel?” God answered, “I am going to do so by using Babylon as My instrument of judgment upon My people!” Now Habakkuk had a bigger problem: “Are you going to use a wicked nation to swallow up those more righteous than themselves?” Again God responds, “Write down the vision. It will certainly happen. I will also judge Babylon. But in the meantime, the just shall live by faith.”
Habakkuk’s prayer of faith concludes with the verses above. What do you do while you wait for God to deal with violence and injustice in the world? What do you do when all you see around you is desolation and barrenness? You rejoice in the Lord! You take joy in the God of salvation! You live by faith in the One whose righteous purposes shall be fulfilled in an unrighteous world.
Rest in confidence that one day all the earth shall keep silence before Him!
