Spiritual warfare demands supernatural weapons for victory in battle. Paul describes three vital pieces of equipment: the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit. Our faith in God and His sovereign ability to protect us from harm and the vicious onslaught of the enemy offers a shield of coverage no enemy arrow can penetrate. The helmet of salvation transforms our thinking and empowers us to live for Jesus. The sword of the Spirit never grows dull or becomes too heavy for us to handle, even in times of weariness and discouragement.
Though the adversary may attempt to lie, threaten, frighten, and seek to disable you, God’s Word is sure. His sword will not fail you. Be strong in faith, and as your life is centered on God, you will be given the ability to act upon His purpose for you, until your enemies are defeated and His promise is secured.
