When the Spirit-filled church worships she constantly gives thanks. Everything that comes to believers is a cause for thanksgiving. Thanks to God comes to a focus in Christ. He is God’s supreme Gift to the church. In Jesus’ name, because of what God the Father said to the world through His Son Jesus Christ, God’s people find reason to rejoice in everything that happens (v. 20).
The Spirit-filled church worships God in the name of Jesus Christ and worships God together. The Holy Spirit brings unity and communion among the Church. They speak to each other and then speak together to God. They sing together and pray together. They give thanks together and praise together. No discordant note is among them. Why? Verse 21 gives the reason for their harmonious worship, they have an appreciation for and a submission to one another, which is born of the Spirit. No one tries to out-do another but rather wants to humble himself before his brother. Their worship together is grounded in their daily life together.
