One pastor explained the phenomenal gift which Jesus has made to us of “the keys of the kingdom of God” in this way: “I have on my key ring,” he began, “a selection of keys which are very deterministic. One determines who can enter my house, another who can drive my car, and another who can access my office and business matters. Each of these keys is shared by different people. My children have keys to my house, my oldest daughter has a key to my car, and my secretary and associates have a key to my office. However, there is only one person who has an equal set of keys to mine; only one person with whom I share everything in common trust, and that is my wife.”
So it is, as Jesus says, “You decide what of evil is stopped (bound) on earth, and you decide what of God’s power and grace is released (loosed) to mankind.” His “keys” have been entrusted to us—His redeemed Bride.
