The relationship between the input of the Word and the growth of our faith is striking. This text goes so far as to suggest that they cannot be separated! That places us under great accountability, not only in the area of our own Bible study, but in how we speak the Word to those around us.
2 Samuel 23:2 says, “The Spirit of the LORD spoke by me, and His word was on my tongue.” And 1 Peter 3:15 exhorts us to “always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you.” We are to be ready at all times to speak a word of life into any circumstance and to give an explanation of our faith to anyone who asks.
We are not always able to plan ahead for those occasions. So we let our times in the Word build our faith that we may truly “be ready in season and out of season” (2 Tim. 4:2) to exhort and teach.
